How To Bypass Your ISP And/or Your Country Restrictions
“Site is blocked”, “the administrator has blocked this site”, “Error 403 Forbidden Unauthorized”. All of this is just example of the frustrated error messages you get if you were trying to access website that has been blocked, may be you at work and the administrator is blocking some cretin sites, or may be your ISP does, or may be more evil some Country restrictions and they has blocked almost all popular websites, sites they think its content does not follow there political view. or religion beliefs.
For example if you ever went or lived in chain you probably noticed that they has blocked so many sites there, another example in some Arab countries were they has blocked almost all pornographically websites, ok i understand that there is some sort of religions s beliefs that forbidden these kind of content, but blocking sites like youtub.com , or services lie VOIP, come on it’s really getting silly here, why would they do that?
It does not stop on that, some ISPs is manipulating BitTorrent traffic aka(throttling P2P traffic), the ongoing war between copyright pirates and authorities.
Net Neutrality is another form of Internet restriction that some authorities trying to do, later in 2008 comcast one of the most popular ISP in usa has limited the monthly bandwidth for its users, and put 250 GB monthly cap.
Anyway it really does not matter here why your ISP/country/work/school has limited access to some websites and services on the Internet, what is really important is how to Bypass this Restriction, let’s see how you can do this.
One of the most popular methods to bypass Restriction and access blocked websites,But its limited which means you can only use proxy sites at work place, school, were only few websites has been blocked, there is nothing more proxy sites can do like bypass your ISP BitTorrent throttling, or unblock VOIP services, that is why its limited.
So if your ISP/Country has some Restriction on some websites, and service proxy sites is really poor option to bypass this Restriction, what you really need is some sort of way to bypass this restriction
VPN if you have never heard of it you going to love it why? because VPN allow you to completly bypass your ISP/Country Restriction, But first what does VPN means?
VPN is a computer network in which some of the links between nodes are carried by virtual circuits in the Internet, in other words VPN is like tunnel to another network using the internet, so it allow you to virtual connect to another network using path and that path is carried on the internet.

But what this has to do with bypass ISP Restriction ? right because VPN allow you to connect to another network using the internet as path or tunnel, you can use this to bypass your ISP Restriction, and your ISP can’t tell which sites or serivces you are using bsically because your just using tunnel to another network and doing other thins on that network, so you can broswe blocked websites, unblock serivce like VOIP, prevent your ISP from manipulating BitTorrent traffic.
It that all? no when it comes to VPN we must talk about security, depends on the VPN type some VPN has encryption 128-2048, this gives you Full anonymity online by hiding your real IP and Protection against your ISP, they really can’t tell what you doing online.
Benefits of using VPN?
- Assigns your computer a new IP address, hides your real IP to anonymize all web applications.
- Security for Hotspot Wireless Access Users (Wi-Fi) connection.
- Bypass Skype and other VOIP blocked in your area or by your ISP.
- Bypass blocked websites (that have blocked you or your country/geographical region).
- Security & anonymity with a secure encrypted connection between your computer and the Internet.
- Virtual Firewall — Attacks are often directed at a known IP address.
- Anonymizes you at work or at school even behind restrictive firewalls.
- Easy online ordering when you travel – Many order forms on the Internet will automatically block certain countries from even ordering.
So how much VPN costs? not really actually about $5 – 20 monthly depends on the VPN provider and the VPN type, Where can you find VPN providers? A great list of VPN services providers and nice comparison too .
There are many how can i choose? well i’v tried almost every VPN provider over the last two years, and i couldn’t find anyone better than StrongVPN not only they offer great VPN service but also they has great customers support to answer all your questions 24/7 support is something you can’t find with other providers.
Also they offer OpeVPN the amazing OpenVPN service offers 2048-bit strong encryption via SSL/TLS protocol, which is stronger and harder to your ISP to detect.
So if you ever considering buying VPN service i highly recommend that you buy StrongVPN.

Nothing can be more frustrating that trying to see BBC in the UK or Hulu in the USA only to be blocked by the country IP.
This is a great idea, thanks for that.
Nice article on how to bypass your ISP. I have always wondered how to do this. Keep up the good work! Your blog design looks incredible by the way. wow!
I am using proxy/socks when I need to bypass restrictions. There are some sites offering this service.
yes you can use proxy/socks to bypass isp restrictions but its only limited to browsing websites websites, and to bypass p2p,voip you need alternative method like vpn
GREAT information. I am an idiot when it comes to this type of stuff. Thanks for the info! PS: I’m going to pass your blog onto some family members that I think would find it interesting (most of them are like me, complete morons when it comes to technology).
I have studied few of those information you wrote, but some I have not, so thanks for your great article on How To Bypass Your ISP And/or Your Country Restrictions.
I was in Dubai this past summer, and found that I could not use my skype. I was using the airports wirless. I am not sure if it was the airport that restricted it or the country but it was coming up restricted. I finally had to get one of my buddies in the US to make the phone call for me.
I would also say that I have noticed that Comcast does do bandwidth shaping. When I was FTP’ing files more than 2G I would usual loose my connection.
yes in dubi it definitely country restrictions they are blocking voip like skype and the only way ti bypass this is using vpn ,i didnt know that comcast shaping ftp traffic too, i know they has 250 GB monthly cap but shaping ftp traffic does not make any sense , are you sure its not something with ur ftp client or the server you connected to?
Great article thanks for sharing…
Great post, but it’s legal to bypass your ISP? Please answer.
The cost, $5 – 20 per month, is really big in some countries. I used to use a kind of program to visit blocked sites by IP cheating when i was back into China. But the speed was just horrible. So I think VPN might be a good choice though its cost is sort of high.
honestly i don’t know about the legal part , i never thought or read about it but i think its ok as long as you doing something that is legal using vpn, some isp just want to block some content
ya there are many programs like this allow you to get new ip, basically its proxy that problem just make it easy to find and replace proxy setting in your computer , but the speed is really slow i was never able to get my full speed with proxy server , so vpn was my best option i can get the full speed, and yes i agree with you that $5- 20 monthly is sort of high but you i think that vpn will be the last choice when you want to bypass your isp in the end you get what you pay for.
VPN. I’ll keep this in mind. Before reading this post, I used to think that getting blocked from seeing some website is just natural and nothing can be done with it. Yes, it’s quite frustrating when I tried viewing some vidz in youtube but couldn’t due to some blocking issues. Now, I have the right tool–or key to open closed doors–VPN. Thanks for sharing.
Hey, just thought you might wanna know that your blog looks a bit messed up with Opera.

Just got Strong VPN works great so far. I’m in Iraq and couldn’t DL vids for my zune, or netflix along with most streaming TV shows. The connection was so slow in room any ideas on how bypass bandwidth filters? Once and while I will use bit torrent and the next day my connection is so slow I couldn’t even load my timesheet online. The company used to block anything streaming and all downloads youtube, iTunes etc… It seems they have done away with that. The network admin. told me there are fliters to slow down high bandwidth users. Anyway around this? I’ve been searching for hours now. It’s like they stopped blocking and just throttle you now, but throttled the whole connection speed. I don’t think it’s off of IP addresses because my roomate has the same problem. I’m also using macshift maybe it will help… Any other ideas would be appreciated
nice article
do you happen to know if there is a way to setup an xbox 360 in the same way? I use netflix instant streaming via the xbox but being out of the US it won’t allow me to watch instantly.
Is there a way to set up the xbox so the netflix server doesn’t recognize my ip address?
Thanks for the great information

Good post about how to bypass isp. nice post with great info.
I’m happy to read this awesome articles..full of ISP tips in enjoyable writing style
More and more sites are getting blocked. When some government decides to restrict the rights on the Internet by blocking special sites its just a matter of time before they restrict this to other area sites also. Sometimes u don´t have to use a VPN tunnel to bypass this, but can just change your DNS settings to some free service like: Open DNS.
I must not surf enough, because I don’t get blocked much. Or I have a great ISP. But I bookmarked this just in case I start getting blocked.
Thank you for the useful tips here. This time I don’t have to be frustrated due to unexplained blockages. I’ll also try what Mr. Sloan’s ‘Open DNS.’ Thanks
i have a friend in Moldavia and recently with the vents that we all know ,Yahoo was blocked
using the proxy sites helped us communicate so yeah i can asure you that it works

Hey thanks for the tip, I have been having a problem with two sites that wouldn’t let me in.
Lot of sites say that StrongVPN isn’t that good. Anyone above tried their services?
I enjoyed reading your post! I’ve been looking around for such material regarding Debt & financial help.Although it looks difficult to gain Financial Freedom but its simple and easy.
i’m wondering..
i’m using wireless isp (gsm provider) with the basic package of 256 kbps
the bandwidth capacity of each bts can provide up to 3.6 mbps
can i increase my speed up to 3.6 mbps with vpn?
No there is no way you can do that, just to bypass your isp
I have used Witopia’s personalVPN for years and it is inexpensive and fast with excellent tech support. It is possible to use a specific VPN server located in a country that allows the user to bypass data restrictions.
Can I also use openDNS?
as soon as i connect the Ethernet cable (which comes from the modem), my ISP assignes a dynamic IP address. Then, whenever i try to open any web site (like google, yahoo, etc.), i get redirect to my ISP’s login page.. its a JSP page.
but, without logging in, i can scan(nmap) the network and i can launch exploits to the target IPs.. everything works fine. but i cant open any web-page in the browser (as i get redirected to the log in page), and also when i ping google, it doesn’t occur.
i am a regular user of backtrack 4. plz help if poss..
thanks
