One of the most common problem with firefox is memory usage especially if you don’t have enough ram on you system, usually i open two firefox window and sometimes i open like 50 tabs and more when i check firefox memory usage i find it something like 550 MB, although i’v 4 GB ram in my system , i noticed firefox become slow and it’s really annoying, so i tried to search and find how to redue firefox memory usage and i found these tips to solve this problem.

1-Limit Pages Stored in memory
Every time you visit new page firefox store it in memory to help improve performance and load pages faster when back and forward

1. type about:config in the address bar
2. search for this string browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers
3. the default value is -1 you need to change it to 0

2-Reduce memory usage when minimize firefox

This will reduce firefox memory usage when minimize and let Windows to claiming back the memory used when it minimize.

1. Type in about:config in the address bar
2. Right click and choose New > Boolean
3. Type config.trim_on_minimize in the pop-up box and hit Enter
4. Select True and hit Enter.
5. Restart your Firefox

3-Fixed cache capacity

Evey time you visit new page firefox will cash this page in memory so it doesn’t need to be loaded again when you visit it later.

1. Type about:config in the address bar
2. search for this string browser.cache.memory.capacity
3. If you set to 0, Firefox will not cache any pages. for more info read here.

4. Use less extension as possible

Try to use only important extension you really need dont install extension you not going to use it, this will herlp you reduce firefox memory usage.

continue to my last post how to make money wit proxy sites there are two things you should do for any new proxy site im assuming you using PHPProxy Script as its’ the most popular proxy script these days.

limit the max file size

Some people use proxy sites to download largo files through your proxy usually they download files from sites they cant access so they using proxy sites, this will kill you bandwidth and cost you more and more for hosting so you will always need more bandwidth.

so it’s pretty obvious you need to limit the max files on your proxy to help you save bandwidth on your hosting,

open up index.php and search for max_file_size and change you need to change it to something reasonable

for example 5 mb would be good the value has to be written in Bytes so 1MB = 1*1.24*1.24

change it to 5 MB = 5242880

it’s highly recommend that you don’t put value large than 10 MB .

Disallow Hotlinking on PHPProxy

Disallowing hotlinking on your proxy site allow you to prevent people from linking through you proxy sites and save your bandwidth

open up index.php and put the folllwoing code just right after the <?php

and replace site with your proxy url

Microsoft was supposed to release Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) on April 29, 2008, the service pack only became unofficially available on the download.windowsupdate.com domain. Today, XP SP3 has officially hit the Release to Web (RTW) milestone. In other words, SP3 is available both on Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center.

The final build of SP3 (5512) reportedly includes 1,073 fixes, including every security update, out-of-band release, and hotfix released since Windows XP SP2 hit Microsoft’s servers back in August 2004.

Concerned that customers are confusing the impending end of Windows XP retail availability with the end of support, Microsoft Corp. has reminded users that the aged operating system will be supported until early April 2014. Jared Proudfoot, a manager in Microsoft’s support life cycle group, reiterated the final support dates for Windows XP in a post to a company blog.

“Recently, there have been a number of posts in the blogosphere about Windows XP and the upcoming end of direct OEM and retail license availability,” said Proudfoot. “Some people are interpreting this as the end of support for Windows XP.”

Not so, Proudfoot said. Windows XP will remain in what Microsoft calls “mainstream support” to April 14, 2009, and continue in “extended support” though April 8, 2014, he added. The former delivers free fixes — for both security patches and other bug fixes — to everyone. During the latter, all users receive security updates, but nonsecurity hot fixes are given only to companies that have signed support contracts with Microsoft.

Those are not new dates, Proudfoot reminded customers last week. In early 2007, for instance, Microsoft extended support for Windows XP Home and XP Media Center to the 2009 and 2014 dates to match those already set for Windows XP Professional.
