Windows Vista has very cool feature, you can add Additional clocks to the task bar show up when you mouse over the clock you can show up to Two Additional clocks that makes it easy to track the time in different zone.

1. Right click on the clock in the task bar and select Adjust Date/Time.

2. select the Additional Clocks tab

3. Check the box Show this clock you can choose to select only one or the two clock if you want

4-select the time zone you want for this clock then give it name

Now when you mouse over the clock in the task bar you will see the Additional clocks

When you search for something in the start menu windows vista search not only in start menu but also search in all index include files from hard drives.
this makes it slow , so we need to do something to make windows vista search only in the start menu
to do that

1-open Register Editor (start menu then run type regedit)
2-navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
3-find the key Start_SearchFiles then right click and select modify
4-change the value to 0
5-reboot your computer

so there is solution for that we can Disable the The transparent glass to make windows vista aero theme little fast

1-Click on the desktop and select Personalize.
2-Select Windows Color and Appearance.
3-Uncheck Enable Transparency.

What is Crash Dump?
Crash Dump is file windows create it when it give you the Blue Screen of death Error (BSOD)

Basically Blue Screen of Death is just an Error so windows creat file called Minidump
it’s located in this path
C:\WINDOWS\Minidump

so if we need to know what cause this Blue Screen of Death Error we need to Analysis the minidump file

to do this we need first to download and Install Debugging Tools for Windows
this can be download from here

After installing Debugging Tools for Windows we need to defined the symbol path

To enter a symbol path in WinDbg

1. On the File menu, click Symbol Path.
2. In the Symbol Search Path window, enter the following:

   “srv*c:\cache*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols;”

then open file menu and click open crash dump…

it’ll take few second to analysis the crash dump , after that you’ll get the error report and what caused this BSOD

so let’s take look at the last few lines , you can see clearly this line
Probably caused by : bdrsdrv.sys (bdrsdrv+ea6)
ofcourse you going to something diffrent bdrsdrv.sys so all you have to do is google it till you find the solution

in my cause bdrsdrv.sys is what caused the Blue Screen of death, and after i google it i found it belongs to Bitdefender Antivirurs

What is Hibernation?
Hibernation is Feature in windows vista “also in windows xp” that enable the operating system to quickly shut down the computer and save the computer status so when you power on your computer again you will get your computer last status includes all application and files that you have been working on it before you shut down

So why you need to disable hibernation?
hibernation save an image file usually on drive C or where you have installed windows vista
this image is set to be just like RAM size
for example if you have 1 GB Ram this file set to be 1 GB
so it takes lots of space, disable hibernation help you to free more disk space
especially if you don’t use this feature.

navigate to the C Drive there is file called hiberfil.sys if you can’t see it
go to control panel open the folder option
then select the view tab scroll down uncheck “hide protected operating system files (Recommend)”

How To Disable the Hibernation?

1-Open the Command prompt window (start/run/ then type/ cmd)

2-Type this command powercfg –h off then press enter

3-Reboot your computer

The administrator account let you install any program or change any on windows vista setting

Note: any change you made with the administrator account will affect in all other users account
so you have to be careful for what you changing

To add the administrator account to vista welcome screen

start/ run/ type control userpasswords2

under the user account window select the advanced tab

click on the advanced tab under advanced user management

From Local user and grump window select users then double click on the Administrator

in the Administrator properties uncheck Account is disabled

then click ok
reboot you pc or log off the current user you will see the administrator account in the welcome screen

Do you have wild screen? if the answer is yes then you should read this ,
you may noticed that in some channels that doesn’t support wild screen two big black lines in both left and right side

so now how to remove this two lins in the side? that is easy thing to do

Right Click on the mytheatre window and choose Setting then General Setting
From the General Setting window under the Diplay Tab Check on Optimize Video Size For Wild Screen

Now After Doing this step you will noticed that the picture now is diplayed in the full screen mode

of course there is disadvantage for this method first thing you ‘ll noticed is that on top and bottom side there is little bit cut in the picture that is normal i think because not all channels support wild screen

but any way that is better that the two big black lines on the left and right side

Now enjoy watching all channels on the wild screen

If you read How this post you may noticed that you can’t add internet explorer by this way so here is the way to add internet explorer to the Desktop

open the Registry editor Start/run/ then type regedit

in the Registry editor navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel

create a new key DWORD 32-bit

then copy and past the following to the new key
{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}

close the Registry editor , then go to the desktop and right click then choose refresh
you’ll see internet explorer shortcut immediately

After installing windows vista you may noticed that there is now Desktop Icons
To add Desktop Icons in windowds vista
Right Click on the desktop and choose personalize

then choose change desktop Icons

From The Desktop Icons Setting Check all the icons you want to place on the desktop
and click ok
