2-Disable some of the visual appearance

Areo is not bad as most people think yes it take high amount of Ram if you Don’t want to Disable Areo and you want make it little faster, here is little trick to make areo little bit faster.

  1. Right click on my computer icon then choose properties
  2. From this window select advanced system setting

3-Select Advanced Tab then Choose Settings

4-first choose Custom then uncheck the following option

Animate controls and elements inside windows
Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing

fade or slide menus into view
fade or slide tooltips into view
fade out menu items after clicking

show shadows under menus
show shadows under mouse pointer

slide open combo boxes
slide taskbar buttons

use background image for each folder type

then click ok

It’s true that windows vista slower than xp especially if you ave old computer, But does this means you can install it?. No you can install it and with few steps to make windows vista run faster.

  1. Disable unnecessary Services: vista come loaded with unnecessary services that you can disable, not everyone going to use these service so it’s better to disable it.
  2. Disable some of the visual appearance: we can disable some of the areo visual style this should make vista faster
  3. Disable unnecessary programs from Autostart: you don’t have to run many programs on vista start up

1-Disable unnecessary Service

  1. Click on start menu then choose run and type services.msc and click ok
  2. Select the service you want to disable and right click then from the properties window choose disable

The following services are not important for most users.

Windows Time
This service maintains date and time synchronization on all clients and servers in the network

Print Spooler

Loads files to memory for later printing, if you have printer don’t disable this service

Tablet PC Input Service

Enables Tablet PC pen and ink functionality, If you don’t have tablet pc you can disable this service

Readyboost
Provides support for improving system performance using Flash Memory as caching memory to improve the system performance

If you planning not to use a flash memory  for Readyboost disable this service

Routing and Remote Access
Offers routing services to businesses in local area and wide area network environments

If you don’t use VPN you can disable this service

Offline Files
you can disable this service if you don’t use Offline Files

Distributed Link Tracking Client

if you have only one computer you can disable this service, in case you are on network you won’t be able to access to other computers

Shell Hardware Detection

Provides notifications for Auto Play hardware events.

you will no longer see pop up when you insert devices (e.g USB , Camera )

Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
Provides image acquisition services for scanners and cameras

you can disable this service if you don’t use camera or scanner on your computer

Windows Error Reporting Service
Allows errors to be reported when programs stop working or responding and allows existing solutions to be delivered
sometimes it’s too annoying when every time program stop working , if you get tired of these warning you can disable this and you will no loner see warning message.


How To Make Windows Vista Shut Down Faster

Have you ever asked yourself why Windows Vista Take long time sometimes to shut down?
This is because some of application you have installed on your computer and some of windows vista services , takes long time to shut down, windows vista has to force this service to shut down

so here is little trick to make windows vista force this services to shut down faster?

  1. open up the registry editor (stat/run/then type regedit)
  2. navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control”
  3. then on the right panel look for key called “WaitToKillServiceTimeout
  4. you will noticed that the default value is set to 20000 (20000ms=20 seconds)
  5. double click to open the key then change the default value to 5000 then click okt
