One of the most common problem with firefox is memory usage especially if you don’t have enough ram on you system, usually i open two firefox window and sometimes i open like 50 tabs and more when i check firefox memory usage i find it something like 550 MB, although i’v 4 GB ram in my system , i noticed firefox become slow and it’s really annoying, so i tried to search and find how to redue firefox memory usage and i found these tips to solve this problem.

1-Limit Pages Stored in memory
Every time you visit new page firefox store it in memory to help improve performance and load pages faster when back and forward

1. type about:config in the address bar
2. search for this string browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers
3. the default value is -1 you need to change it to 0

2-Reduce memory usage when minimize firefox

This will reduce firefox memory usage when minimize and let Windows to claiming back the memory used when it minimize.

1. Type in about:config in the address bar
2. Right click and choose New > Boolean
3. Type config.trim_on_minimize in the pop-up box and hit Enter
4. Select True and hit Enter.
5. Restart your Firefox

3-Fixed cache capacity

Evey time you visit new page firefox will cash this page in memory so it doesn’t need to be loaded again when you visit it later.

1. Type about:config in the address bar
2. search for this string browser.cache.memory.capacity
3. If you set to 0, Firefox will not cache any pages. for more info read here.

4. Use less extension as possible

Try to use only important extension you really need dont install extension you not going to use it, this will herlp you reduce firefox memory usage.

Making windows xp look like ubuntu is very easy and fun, all you need to do is copying few files and applying patch

so first you need to download some files and patches used to modify windows xp

Download Uxtheme Multi-patcher used to modify uxtheme.dl to enable non-microsft style
Download Ubuntu Visual Style made by FioreSSJ
Download Tango Shell Patcher which will integrate Tangerine Icons

First you need to apply the Uxtheme mulit-patcher then reboot,

now you need to copy the ubuntu style copy the following folders Wallpaper, cursors , fonts, to

• C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper..
• C:\Windows\Cursors..
• C:\Windows\Fonts..

Then browse to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\ and create file name it “Ubuntu” and copy the rest of the files there

Run Human.msstyles this will bring windows properties window click ok to apply , now you need to apply Tango Shell Patcher to intergare icons fonts, cursors then reboot your pc

This is amazing trick to hide simple txt file from other people, it’s useful if you share one computer with other people

1-open up command prompt window (start menu run type cmd)
2-choose with partion you want to save this file in my case i choosed C and then type c \

3-first we going to create a new notepad file so let’s type notepad file1.txt

4- click save and write anything, this file is one it’s gonna be visible to other

5-now we going to create the hidden file so we need to type notepad file1.txt:hidden.txt

6-click save and write anything that you don’t want anyone to see it

now here is the trick the file hidden.txt is not visible any where else you can’t view or open this file from windows explorer

the only way you can open hidden.txt is by command prompt window

to open it type notepad file1.txt:hidden.txt

this is good way if you want to hide simple txt file from other people, no one can open hidden.txt except if someone know the name of hidden.txt and file1.txt
